PRECISE (PREgnancy Care Integrating translational Science Everywhere)

PRECISE (PREgnancy Care Integrating translational Science Everywhere) is a network of partners and collaborators spanning across Eastern, Southern, and Western Africa, the UK, Norway, Canada, and the USA. With their consent, we will establish a cohort of 12, 000 pregnant women across Sub-Saharan Africa to assist in the researching of, diagnosis, and management of placental disorders. Using a holistic approach that considers the social determinants of health, biology, epidemiology and co-exposures, clinical innovation, and advocacy, we aim to address this gap in global maternal health research.

Weekly Enrolment

Please see the graphs below for our current enrolment numbers for Kenya, Mozambique, and The Gambia as of August 2021. Over the past year, our sites had slowed down recruitment of new participants due to COVID-19. Recently, PRECISE Kenya and The Gambia sites have restarted recruitment with PPE and socialdistancing in place for the safety of both staff and participants. Nevertheless, the teams have been capitalizing on the reduced operations in the maternity areas to monitor the screening and recruitment of study participants.
