HOPE partnerships have brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and women with experience of pre-eclampsia to overcome this barrier. Hundreds of people from many different countries have developed a minimum data set, known as a core outcome set, for future pre-eclampsia research. This core outcome set will assist funding organisations to prioritise research funding, help researchers to design future research, and improve the reporting of research in medical journals.
We developed a long list of potential core outcomes by extracting outcomes which had been reported by previous pre-eclampsia trials and by analysing in-depth interviews with women with experience of pre-eclampsia.
2. Prioritising outcomesWe conducted a three-round survey asking healthcare professionals, researchers, and women with experience of pre-eclampsia to prioritise the long list of potential core outcomes. The survey was promoted across our partner organisations and social media to ensure we reached a diverse range of people with different perspectives.
3. Consensus development meeting
Prioritised outcomes were discussed in a consensus development meeting held in Oxford, United Kingdom using formal consensus development methods. Using formal consensus development methods, 11 healthcare professionals, two researchers, and four women with experience of pre-eclampsia, prioritised a core set of outcomes that should be common to future preeclampsia research.
